Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority
Sound Transit – Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel (DSTT)
Key Business Needs
The DSTT runs under the Seattle downtown district for buses and Light Rail Vehicles (LRV), occupying the same right-of-way. LRV location was monitored reliably, but bus location was detected only intermittently. To open the tunnel, it was essential to provide accurate position data of all vehicles.
NexLyte, Inc. – Telecom Engineering Consultants developed and conducted a test plan that measured data flow, pinpointed areas of issue and addressed potential sources of the anomalies, included interference sources in the RF environment.
Key Business Benefits
Identification of anomalies and implementation of immediate and long-term recommendations resulted in the detection of all buses and allowed Sound Transit to obtain the required regulatory approval to place the tunnel into revenue service.
