New York City Transit Authority
NYCT – Inspection Services for the Rehabilitation of the L Line Canarsie Tunnel
Key Business Needs
Consequential to super storm Sandy, the L Line Canarsie tunnel under the East River was flooded with salt water that caused critical deterioration to structural elements and communication, signal and traction power cables integral to the tunnel. The MTA NYCT needed to replace essential systems while maintaining service on the line for thousands of daily commuters.
NexLyte, Inc. – Telecom Engineering Consultants, as a member of the inspection team reporting directly to the MTA Board, was engaged in inspection, oversight and reporting on the progress of the innovative approaches deployed to rehabilitate the communications systems within the Canarsie tunnel, without which CBTC controlled train traffic could not operate.
Key Business Benefits
NexLyte, Inc. – Telecom Engineering Consultants’s oversight and reporting documented the installation status of the new communications systems, and recommended specific actions when issues were observed. This work contributed to the rehabilitation and restoration of safe, reliable transit service on the L Line, 3 months ahead of schedule.
